Data
on Satellite Receivers
Satellite receivers are
a part of the hardware set up for satellite tv. Satellite receivers
are inside the home and they translate the signal that is broadcast
from the satellite up in the sky and picked up by the small dish attached
to your home or office and then the signal is sent via cables to the
receiver, interpreted and then played over your tv.
You can buy satellite
receivers, or you can sign up for service with a satellite tv service
provider and lease the equipment from them, or in some cases, “lease”
it for free with some kind of contract with the satellite tv company,
for example a certain amount of time of use. Similar to the cable
tv companies, wherein you pay monthly for the service and the box
that is above or below your tv. You must have a receiver in order
to watch satellite tv. You also need a monitor of some kind. I have
some friends that had the dish, receiver and cinematic projector.
Then they played it right over a two story white wall. It was a very
cool way to watch the Olympics!
