Some Information About Satellite TV Receivers

Satellite tv receivers are a part of the satellite tv system. To set up a facility to receive and view satellite tv, you need a dish, tv, some cable and that brings us to the vital satellite tv receivers. Most satellite tv providers lease and sell the equipment that you will need.

The satellite or satellites that are orbiting about 36,000 miles above the earth are receiving signals that are formatted and programmed here on earth and sent up. Then the signal is relayed back to earth and can be received by your dish but then translated and interpreted by the receiver so that it can be displayed on your tv and heard from your speakers. In other words the programming is created on earth but transported via the sky and thus to wherever you are with your satellite tv and dish.

You can buy satellite tv receivers on their own, but most companies will lease the whole set up to you and perform free installation too. The receivers are competitive in technology and function. If the equipment is just for tv viewing I think that you would be perfectly safe to use whatever equipment the satellite provider offered, but again, there are choices.
